Electrical Field Technician
Currentechnologies is immediately hiring for an Electrical Testing Field Technician to perform testing on electrical distribution equipment, electrical safety equipment and related gear.
Note: CURRENTECHNOLOGIES IS LOCATED IN MERIDIAN, IDAHO – NO RELOCATION ASSISTANCE AVAIlABLE AT THIS TIME.
- Hours: Full time, Monday – Friday
- Additional Schedule Requirements: Some weekends, nights and holidays
- Overnight Travel: 50% of time (Company Paid)
- Compensation Package: Health, Dental and Vision Coverage offered after 60 days. Paid time off and paid holidays after 90 days. 401(k) after 1 year and 1200 hours of employment
Currentechnologies, Inc. performs acceptance testing, maintenance, equipment repairs, infrared inspections, power quality and engineering studies as well as PPC certification in several states and industries:
- Industries we serve include but are not limited to, petrochemical, healthcare, government, agriculture, military, and manufacturing.
- States we serve include but are not limited to, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, California, Nevada, Wyoming, Utah, and Washington.
Responsibilities and Duties (include but not limited to):
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot low and medium voltage electrical systems and equipment, Including circuit breakers, transformers and all other aspects of electrical equipment.
- Perform electrical PPE (personal protective equipment) testing.
- Test and inspect low and medium voltage cable installations.
- Perform start-up, troubleshooting and repair services on controls and transfer schemes.
Position Requirements:
- Ability to obtain U.S. government-issued security clearance with background check.
Valid state issued driver’s license with ability to be insured. - Ability to obtain NICET certification within allotted time frame (company paid)
- Dependable and responsible with good judgment and organizational skills.
- Good customer service, time management and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work with other technicians on the team and work on projects by themselves once fully trained.
- Be a self-starter and should possess good interpersonal skills
Travel Requirements:
- Availability to work flexible hours including some weekends, nights, and holidays.
Availability to perform work out-of-town as our clients are located throughout the Western US (50% travel required). - Out-of-town travel will consist of one night to one week at a time. Currentechnologies will provide transportation and company credit card to cover expenses for meals and lodging.
Preferred Experience:
- Testing & maintenance experience on MCC’s, low voltage breakers, medium voltage equipment, transformers, protective relays (protection & control), infrared scanning, start-up on switchgear or similar equipment.
- Proficient in reading and accurately interpreting power system wiring diagrams including DC elementary drawings.
- Solid theoretical understanding of electricity and a good aptitude for problem solving.
- Strong computer skills with working knowledge Microsoft Office products.
- Certifications: MSHA and/or NICET
- Electrical Journeyman or Apprentice experience
